The objective of Walking Assembly is to eliminate the crane from the constructive equation, transferring the effort from people to objects, freeing them to play with the mass. | "MAKE IT ISO!", A Series of Isometrics Based on Iconic Movies and TV Series Posted: 17 Apr 2019 09:00 PM PDT  © Riccardo Masiero The passion for cinema and TV shows, combined with that for scenography and architecture, led Italian architect Riccardo Masiero to play with the different spaces and dimensions of the elements that make movies in order to create "MAKE IT ISO!", a series of drawings portraying famous movies and TV icons such as Breaking Bad, Twin Peaks, Harry Potter, Star Wars, The Shining and UP in an architectural way. These illustrations represent iconic scenes of TV and cinema through the isometric illustration method, giving an overall picture of the construction of the scene, as well as providing a different point of view to the observer. | France Announces Competition to Redesign the Spire of Notre Dame Posted: 17 Apr 2019 05:20 AM PDT  Notre Dame fire. Image © Francois Guillot / AFP The prime minister of France has announced an international architectural competition to redesign the roofline of Notre Dame Cathedral after this week's devastating fire. Prime minister Édouard Philippe made the announcement following a special Cabinet held by French President Emmanuel Macron on the reconstruction of cathedral. Philippe said the competition would give the cathedral "a spire suited to the techniques and challenges of our time". So far, close to one billion dollars have been pledged to rebuild Notre Dame. Designed by KPF, the 68-story scheme will feature a mixed-use program of apartments, food, shopping, and entertainment functions. | Perkins+Will Designs Flexible STEM School with Movable Walls in Miami Posted: 17 Apr 2019 02:00 AM PDT  © Perkins+Will Perkins+Will has released details of their design for the Ransom Everglades School in Miami, Florida. The school's new STEM building will feature flexible classrooms with mobile walls and furniture, and an emphasis on indoor/outdoor connectivity. The school's role as a nationally-renowned center for science and technology will also be aided by tech-enabled educational tools, fabrication and maker labs, a rooftop outdoor lab, and an entire roof of solar PVs. Gang is the only architect be included in this year's list, which recognizes the activism, innovation, and achievements of the world's most influential people. The recognition represents another milestone in what is a historic year for Jeanne Gang and her firm. In January, she announced her first project in France, with the Center for the University of Chicago in Paris, while the firm was also selected last month to lead the Global Terminal and Concourse Expansion at O'Hare International Airport in Chicago.
