Posted: 08 Apr 2019 04:00 AM PDT Though Modernism is sometimes criticized for imposing universal rules on different people and areas, it was Richard J. Neutra's (April 8, 1892 – April 16, 1970) intense client focus that won him acclaim. His architecture of simple geometry and airy steel and glass became the subject of the iconic photographs of Julius Schulman, and came to stand for an entire era of American design. Burckhardt+Partner's Vaulted Brick School in Malawi "Opens Up to the Local Village" Posted: 08 Apr 2019 04:00 AM PDT Burckhardt+Partner has released details of their proposed secondary school in Malawi. Finalists in a competition for the school's design, the Burckhardt+Partner scheme embodies the old African proverb that it takes a community to educate a child, rather than simply the walls, roofs, and books of a school. The St. Paul's new secondary school therefore embraces its community, inviting the adjacent parish and primary school to grow together as a village.
