Meet you new hero, an ascot-wearing, wine-swilling lawyer scrawling anti-Trump graffiti
A Philadelphia lawyer busted for anti-Trump graffiti last week did his part to make the whole scenario as cringingly memorable as possible. Duncan Lloyd, an assistant city solicitor, was caught on surveillance tape standing by while a second man sprayed "F*ck Trump" onto the side of a new, upscale Fresh Market grocery store. That's right, Lloyd, our sweet hero, was not even writing the actual graffiti. Instead, according to Philly.com, he was "filming or taking photos" with his phone and holding a glass of wine. The breakup of the massive Larsen C Ice Shelf in Antarctica is getting closer and will eventually produce an iceberg the size of Delaware prowling the Southern Ocean, according to new NASA data. On Friday, NASA released an astonishing new image taken by researchers flying above the ice shelf on Nov. 10 showing the crack is getting longer, deeper and wider. Scientists think it will eventually cause a large section of the shelf to break off. The scientists associated with a NASA field campaign known as Operation IceBridge measured the Larsen C fracture to be about 70 miles long, more than 300 feet wide and about a third of a mile deep. Some made fun of Apple's attempt at self reflection with its debut of the Apple Book, a minimalist photo book showing off the company's product design history. The punch line? The paper book about Apple's often expensive products costs $300. Despite the $300 price tag for what amounts to a catalog, some Apple fans rushed to snag the book. One in particular (see video below) had the predictable yet brilliant idea of showing off many of the real life products next to the images of the products in the book. If you have even a glimmer of an Apple fan in you, you'll watch the entire video. RIP photo maps, the best part of Instagram that apparently no one else used
This week marked the death of Instagram's photo maps. What are photo maps? Only the best Instagram feature that apparently no one used except for me. The little location button on every user's profile led to a map of the world featuring every geo-tagged photo. From other users' photo maps, you could figure out which city people lived in, check out their random vacations from three years ago or even see which neighborhoods they frequented if you were feeling nosy and zoomed in. Not to mention you could monitor your own map and get a sense of satisfaction from posting a photo in a new city or on a new continent. Read more... After dealing with wedding overload (19 ceremonies over the past two years), Los Angeles-based magazine editor Marielle Wakim had witnessed her fair share of bridal processions, wedding veils and best man toasts. She'd also seen the rise of the wedding hashtag, a short phrase that's usually an overly cutesy blend of the bride and groom's names or a trying-too-hard nod to how they met. If you've been to a wedding in the last few years, you'll know it. 'SNL' skewers Trump's Twitter habit, and he immediately proves their point
Alec Baldwin was back on Saturday Night Live this week as President-elect Donald Trump in a skit poking fun at Trump's decision to retweet a number of unsubstantiated claims about voter fraud from his supporters this week — including a 16-year-old from California. And did Trump tweet about it? Of course he did. The sketch showed Baldwin's Trump and Kate McKinnon's Kellyanne Conway during a security briefing, with Trump too preoccupied by Twitter to pay attention to his advisers. "This could not wait — it was from a young man named Seth, he's 16, he's in high school, and I really did retweet him... seriously, this is real," Baldwin's Trump told the camera. Read more... 1932 A worker hangs pasta to dry in a factory in Italy. Image: Alfred Eisenstaedt/ullstein bild via Getty Images Pasta, the most famous staple of Italian cuisine, was first recorded in Sicily in the 12th century, a few centuries after Arab invaders brought a dried, noodle-like dish to the island. Mainly made with durum wheat and eggs or water, pasta (from the Latin for “dough”) was for many centuries a food reserved for the rich and privileged. It was not until the 18th century that industrialized production made it a cheap staple food for large numbers of Italians. Loud upstairs neighbors have hilarious response to nasty letter
The war between the loud neighbors upstairs and the easily disturbed neighbors downstairs continues. If you've ever had the pleasure of living below another apartment you know how loud simple things like walking across the floor can sound.
