Donald Trump said Twitter, in part, helped him win the election. The president-elect used the tool as a megaphone, spurring hundreds of articles and TV hits a day based on what he fit into 140 characters. Distrust of the media was one of the many storylines that ran through the 2016 presidential election cycle, and CNN wasn't spared by Saturday Night Live in the wake of Donald Trump's election. During Saturday's episode, SNL took on CNN's multiple-member political analysis panel — including break-out member Van Jones, Dana Bash, David Axelrod, and Trump supporter Kayleigh McEnany — and the shallowness of the panel-style format (something that isn't exclusive to CNN). While it's hardly a subtle message, it's still effective, highlighting the repetitive nature of cable television news and its propensity to focus on the latest drama before moving on, skirting past deeper problems for the love of ratings-grabbing fireworks from panelists. In the '90s and early-'00s, Kirk had dozens of jobs, from selling one-of-a-kind mailboxes to delivering the town's mail to working at a video rental store. But with the modern-day season of Gilmore Girls approaching, his resume could use a modern-day update. Based on Kirk's various skills and unending gumption to occupy himself with money-making activities throughout the first seven seasons of Gilmore Girls, we've thought of some jobs that Kirk could have in the four-part miniseries Gilmore Girls: A Year in the Life, debuting on Netflix Nov. 25. LONDON — As with most viral social trends, the Mannequin Challenge just keeps getting more and more elaborate. Now, the British Academy of Film and Television Arts (BAFTA) has gotten involved. And, ironically for an institution that celebrates excellence in "art forms of the moving image," its mannequin game is pretty damn strong. At the Children's BAFTAS on Sunday evening, the audience, presenters, and backstage crew all took part in a truly epic interpretation of the Challenge. LONDON — Home improvements come with a price tag. If that house happens to be Buckingham Palace, then the price tag is £369m. Last week the UK Treasury announced that taxpayers will be footing the bill for the 10-year refurbishment. Naturally, not everyone is happy about it. In fact, hundreds of thousands of people have signed a petition to urge the royal family to pay for the palace's refurbishments themselves. The Royal Trustees — including the prime minister and chancellor — said that the works would be funded by a temporary increase in the Sovereign Grant — a publicly funded grant which pays for the expenses of running the Queen's household. Comedian Chris Martin points out on Twitter he's not that other Chris Martin
Chris Martin and Coldplay touched the lives of millions over the weekend with their overdue concert in India. Unwittingly, one notable person who was impacted by the music play is one Chris Martin, who has taken to explaining he's "not in Coldplay." In the aftermath of the event, plenty of Indians have confused English comedian Chris Martin for the Coldplay lead singer, and are congratulating him for the play over the weekend instead. Though Martin isn’t necessarily upset with all the new followers (more than 1,000) from India he has gained over the past three days, he says he could live without much of the feedback meant for the other Chris. It's not clear why people are mistaking the comedian Chris for the singer Chris, but it could be because he is the only Chris Martin to have a verified account on Twitter. Read more... Instagram just proved it is far from done with going after Snapchat. The photo app is adding live video and new messaging features that allow users to privately share disappearing messages outside of Stories, the company announced Tuesday. The new messaging features, which are beginning to roll out now, essentially make Instagram Direct a lot more like Snapchat in that you can send disappearing photo and video messages to a friend, or groups of friends using the Stories camera. Just like Snapchat, the photos and videos you send to friends will disappear after they see them, though there are no time limits for how long they can be viewed in a single sitting. Instagram will even notify you if someone takes a screenshot or replays your message. Sound familiar? Read more... "Conversation is not harassment," Dixon said on CBS This Morning. Dixon responded to criticism that the cast should not have addressed Pence in a packed auditorium, but in private, backstage. We’ve come a long way from the early days where internet was all about information and entertainment — the new mantra is all about speed and quality of connectivity. We now expect instant and reliable connection to the internet, for a reasonable price. While mobile data services have improved for the AYCE (All-You-Can-Eat) model for the TV streaming and first-person shooter binges, there is no cost-effective replacement for good old Wi-Fi. But, sufficient Wi-Fi speed has been challenging as our devices get faster and our HD/Ultra-HD video streaming subscriptions take over TV; and as broadband speeds have zoomed up to 100-1000 Mbps, the need for a reliable Wi-Fi has never been so important. If your phone or laptop lags or connection lags in certain areas of the house or you see your 200 Mbps Internet service going down to a trickle in that new TV room with the 65 inch 4K screen, hit the pause button before upgrading your speed (and shelling out cash to your internet service provider).
