Tesla who? Chevy Bolt kicks of 2017 with a big win

History was made at the 2017 Detroit Auto Show where the Chevrolet Bolt EV won the show's award for North American Car of the Year, making it the first time an all-electric vehicle has taken the top prize.

With this new title, the Bolt continues to build on the buzz that has surrounded it since its official unveiling at CES 2016 as arguably the first mass-market friendly, fully electric car. It has also made news as being both Steve Wozniak's new car of choice and GM's autonomous guinea pig for logging self-driving miles in San Francisco and Michigan.

Here's why 'The Good Fight' isn't just a diluted 'Good Wife'

When the decision was made to end The Good Wife last season, star Christine Baranski admits she had trouble with the idea of letting go of Diane Lockhart, even after seven seasons in the role.

Luckily, Good Wife creators Robert and Michelle King weren't ready to let go of the fierce legal eagle either, choosing the character as the anchor for CBS All Access' spinoff, The Good Fight

At CBS' Television Critics Association press tour presentation on Monday, the Kings and Baranski were joined by fellow Good Wife alums Cush Jumbo (Lucca Quinn) and Sarah Steele (Marissa Gold) and new cast additions Rose Leslie, Delroy Lindo, Erica Tazel and Justin Bartha to give reporters the scoop on the new series.  Read more...

Apple removes app to help you find lost AirPods from app store

Since Apple took away our headphone jacks (RIP), all we have left to lose is our wireless AirPods..literally

While Apple's wireless earbuds for the iPhone 7 and 7 Plus — AirPods — may look cool, there's no denying the small, ear-sized speakers have the potential to get lost easily.

An app called Finder for AirPods was created to remedy the issue, but just when we thought all our problems had been solved, Apple mustered up the "courage" to remove the app from the App Store.

MacRumors reported that the app, which cost $3.99 in the App Store, was created by iOS developer Deucks to make our lives a whole lot easier. Read more...

Spotify offers Barack Obama a gig as President of Playlists

If you hired Solange to play for Paul McCartney at your old job's going away party, you can probably get your foot in the door in the music industry.

And since Obama almost certainly isn't going into online media when he leaves the White House, he'll be needing a new gig.

Sensing his lack of direction, Spotify kindly pointed him towards a job listing that seems perfect for him or anyone else with "eight years experience running a highly-regarded nation" who also had Kendrick Lamar play their birthday party.

The iPhone's incredible, amazing 10-year history, in pictures

Apple's iconic computer nugget is 10 years old on Monday, and my, how it's changed.

When Steve Jobs first introduced the iPhone in 2007, it was a squat, chubby gadget sold largely on the merit that you could use it as a "widescreen iPod."

In the decade since, the device has evolved into arguably the most iconic bit of consumer electronics of the 21st century. Its influence is hard to overstate.

Say what you will about social networks like Facebook and Twitter, and the ability to take high-def photos or livestream video with a device that fits in your pocket—none of it would exist in the forms we enjoy today without smartphones. And smartphones probably wouldn't be what they are without the iPhone leading the charge. Read more...

Everything we think we know about the next iPhone

The iPhone turns 10 this year, which means it's time for Apple to shake things up. (No more dongles, please.)

Thankfully, a number of rumors from the past several months suggest that a major redesign might be in store.

Let's dive in.

Three new iPhones

As we wrote in November, Apple will reportedly release three new iPhones this year. (That would match up with 2016, when the company released the iPhone SE, iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 Plus.) The company is expected to release one high-end phone, reportedly codenamed Ferrari, and two other phones this fall.  Read more...

Powerful new PSA shows black girls standing up to racist school policies

A powerful new video proves that young black girls are smart, capable and powerful — even in the face of unfair school policies.

The video, part of the Let Her Learn campaign from the National Women's Law Center (NWLC), seeks to end school "pushout" — or the use of targeted policies to deny young people their right to education.

The new PSA illuminates the racism black girls experience through school discipline practices and administrative bias — and how they're pushing back.

In the U.S., black girls are suspended from school five times more than white girls. But the so-called "offenses" of the two groups of teens — often related to dress codes and behavioral policies — actually look quite similar. Read more...

'Bad and Boujee' Youtube views have jumped since Donald Glover's Golden Globes shoutout

Raindrop. Drop top. "Bad and Boujee" is the greatest song—full stop.

Well, at least according to Donald Glover. The actor and creator behind the now Golden Globe-winning television show Atlanta took a moment during his acceptance speech on Sunday night to shoutout rap trio Migos and their hit, "Bad and Boujee."

There's high likelihood that many in the audience had no idea what Glover was talking about when he called it the greatest song of all time, despite its persistence online.

Since Glover's (already) infamous speech, hundreds of thousands of people have been curious enough to look up the song—or revisit it—because, why the hell not? Read more...

Obama says clean energy's momentum is 'irreversible,' even under Trump

Outgoing President Barack Obama sought to assure backers of clean energy that the world will continue to fight global warming — even if the next U.S. president denies that it's happening.

The worldwide shift toward lower-carbon energy is "irreversible" and only gaining steam, Obama said in an article published Monday in the journal Science.

President-elect Donald Trump has falsely claimed that "nobody really knows" if human activity is causing climate change and has vowed to accelerate U.S. production of fossil fuels, a policy that may undermine investments in renewable sources like solar and wind power. Read more...

5 tough questions for Hyperloop One

LAS VEGAS — Hyperloop One's 2016 was about as good as yours: Some good moments (even great ones) and some very, very bad ones.

The next-gen transportation company, which is building a unique people-mover platform based on a design by SpaceX and Tesla CEO Elon Musk, had a milestone moment last spring. In the arid Las Vegas desert and with hundreds of parched journalists watching, it publicly tested the propulsion system for its planned tube-based transportation network that could cut hours-long travel between cities down to minutes. Hyperloop One estimates a trip from Los Angeles to San Francisco will take just 30 minutes. The test itself lasted just a few seconds, but Hyperloop One also spent the day proudly showcasing all the progress it was making on building the tubes and preparing for full-scale human transportation by 2021. New York Giants really rethinking that yacht party after humiliating playoff loss

The New York Giants' season ended on Sunday — but the team's blowout loss to Green Bay in the NFL Wild Card playoffs wasn't their biggest embarrassment. It was their wild Miami yacht party.

Wildly exaggerated Breitbart story about church fire stirs outrage in Germany

Donald Trump and Meryl Streep are connected through 'The Manchurian Candidate'

As we mortals tend to think all celebrities know each other, the Donald Trump/Meryl Streep dust-up heard 'round the world got me thinking: Have these two ever been in a movie together?

Streep took a flame-thrower to Trump on Sunday night during her speech at the Golden Globes, and she did it without once mentioning his name. The emotional toll of covering climate change in the Trump era

I never found covering climate change to be difficult on an emotional level until two years ago. When I became a father.

6 wonderfully bizarre wearables we saw at CES this year

With Google's big Android Wear update delayed and few new smartwatches from major manufacturers, this year's CES was set up to be a boring year for wearables.

But despite the poor showing from the major players, the show floor didn't disappoint when it came to the wacky, weird and — in some cases — kind of genius wearables.

Volvo's plan for self-driving cars focuses on ... the driver?

Starting this year, Volvo will take its autonomous driving program on the road — but the Swedish automaker's approach to developing its tech is a bit more intimate than most of its competitors.

Rather than rolling a fleet of self-driving cars out onto the streets of a city with contracted employees running the tests like Chevy or Ford, Volvo is leading off by handing the keys of an autonomous XC90 over to the Hains, a family in Gothenburg.

This isn't necessarily news — Volvo announced its plans for the pilot program as far back as last year — but the car company shared a few new details about the program and its greater autonomous driving strategy at the 2017 NAIAS Detroit auto show.  Read more...

Violent storm flips over trucks and trees in trail of destruction

A violent storm, connected to the atmospheric river event hitting California, tore across El Paso County, Colorado on Monday. High winds descending from the Rockies ploughed through cars and buildings in a trail of destruction while wind gusts were reportedly reportedly as high as 101 mph in some areas.

Officials at the Fort Carson military base ordered residents to stay inside their homes, warning in a Facebook post that blowing debris and other hazards made it "extremely dangerous" to leave the house.

DeMarcus Cousins totally kicked this chair's ass. Hope it was worth the price.

Meryl Streep’s Globes speech was beautiful, heartfelt and played right into Donald Trump’s hands

Meryl Streep's speech at Sunday's Gold Globes hit all the right notes, setting the internet on fire for most of Monday.

As for the subject of Streep's words, Donald Trump threw gasoline on the fire by doing what he always does: tweeting.

For people who have been watching Trump battle with his critics for more than a year, the whole situation was rather predictable. "You and all of us in this room, really, belong to the most vilified segments in American society right now," Meryl Streep told the audience during her acceptance speech at the Golden Globe Awards on Sunday night.  "Think about it — Hollywood, foreigners, and the press."

Well, that last group has gotten a bit of help from the iconic actress's emotional speech.

The Committee to Protect Journalists received more than 1,000 donations totaling over $60,000 after Streep spoke about the need for a free press and name-checked the organization, according to The Poynter Institute.

Social media is going nuts for this giant ball pit 'beach' for grown ups

It's not easy to impress the internet. But every now and then, a simple idea can win them over big time. Most of them anyway.

For evidence, just look at the social media response to "The Beach," a massive installation created by New York-based art collective Snarkitecture.

The globe-trotting art piece has been designed to resemble a seaside getaway made up of an impressive 1.1 million white plastic balls, and has already been displayed in the National Building Museum in Washington D.C., as well as the Amalie Arena in Florida. Read more...

Hacking your NES Classic could also ruin it

You may have heard that there's a way to get more than just the 30 pre-loaded games on your NES Classic Edition, but it involves hacking and potentially bricking it.

The Classic's 30 trips down memory lane were apparently not enough for a Russian modder, who goes by Madmonkey online and managed to hack Nintendo’s sought-after mini console this weekend. Using a custom toolkit, Madmonkey was able to upload several ROMs, but the number that will fit on the Classic seems arguable as one gamer ran into errors with the games they uploaded after they hit a certain amount.

After the instructions went online — which aren’t much more difficult than pulling off the hacker equivalent of a Konami code in conjunction with a USB device and some software — NES Classic owners have been running wild, hacking their devices to include games Nintendo didn’t intend for you to play on their mini console. Gamers have managed to load Battletoads, the entire Mega Man series (Mega Man 2 comes legally preloaded), Metal Gear and more.  Read more...

Stem cells could one day replace the work of dental fillings, study shows

The stem cells in our teeth can be energized to fill in chips, cracks, and cavities, researchers say, and the findings could one day make dental cement obsolete.

The work has been conducted just in mice so far, but the research, published Monday in the journal Scientific Reports, highlights a way to motivate stem cells to repair tooth defects at a scale they normally can’t, with a drug that already has some safety testing behind it.

It also demonstrates the potential of a type of stem cell therapy in which the cells are stimulated in place, rather than taken out, manipulated, and put back in. Read more...

Former Obama aides behind 'Keepin' It 1600' start a new podcast for the Trump era

It's not just a new president starting in 2017. The team behind the popular Keepin' It 1600 political podcast launched a new online media company Monday with the timely name Crooked Media.

It comes with a new podcast, called Pod Saves America, which features political commentary from the same team as The Ringer's Keepin' It 1600. That show was hosted by several former Barack Obama aides and speechwriters: Jon Favreau, Jon Lovett and Tommy Vietor.

In a phone call with Mashable Monday afternoon, all three hosts talked about their new show and site while driving to a media interview in Los Angeles. Vietor called the new podcast a reprise of their old show with the same hosts and "very similar tones." Read more...

Tom Hiddleston thinks his Golden Globes speech was as cringey as you do

Tom Hiddleston is oft referred to as charmingly awkward, but his Golden Globes acceptance speech on Sunday night veered into seriously cringe-worthy territory.

Now the British actor, who won Best Actor - Mini-Series or TV Movie for his role in The Night Manager, has taken to Facebook to address criticism after his "tone deaf" speech.

During the speech, he said that Médecins Sans Frontières (Doctors Without Borders) doctors and nurses in South Sudan had binge-watched the program, saying "And the idea that I could provide ― or that we could provide ― some relief and entertainment for the people who worked for UNICEF and Médecins Sans Frontières and the World Food Program, who are fixing the world in the places where it is broken, made me immensely proud."  Read more...

Very buff ref becomes early star of college football national championship

The early star of Monday night's college football national championship game between Alabama and Clemson played for neither the Crimson Tide nor the Tigers.

No, the early star was a ref — an unusually buff ref, that is.

The ref in question's name is Mike Defee, a 54-year-old who typically calls games in the Big 12 Conference. Defee is indeed particularly jacked — and his yolked-ness was amply displayed each time ESPN cameras zeroed in on him while he explained a call on the field.

The peanut gallery on Twitter, of course, had a field day with a ref who looked like he could still blow up a running play in the backfield.  Read more...

Man attempts 73-hour lawn bowling record but makes one key error

There's plenty of lawn bowls players in Australia and around the globe, so there's surely a world record out there for the sport.

That's what Shayne Barwick thought when he sought to break a record for playing lawn bowls for the longest continuous time, in bid to help raise funds for his adored Cloncurry Bowls Club in Queensland, which he manages.

Barwick's aim was 73 hours, which he thought was the number he needed to enter history, after checking the current record.

Turns out the "73" was in reference to someone's age. There was no world record for singles bowling after all. Read more...

Dude's drone video showcases summer in this city better than a tourism ad

Stephen Greenwood is a Californian who documented his time in Sydney, Australia, with a little help from his drone.

The footage is genuinely spellbinding, far outstripping many'a tourism campaign that's come before it.

"I get inspired by getting to fly in new and unique landscapes, which is why I decided to bring the [drone] to Sydney with me," explained Greenwood to Mashable via Messenger.

Better still, Greenwood's main motivation for traveling Down Under was based on that age-old impulse: revenge.

"I've wanted to travel to Australia to climb Kosciuszko, because in 2008 my brother-in-law and I climbed Kilimanjaro together," Greenwood told Mashable. "Then in 2009 he climbed Kosciuszko and [was] holding it over my head that he had climbed two of the seven summits and I had only done one. I wanted to even the score." Read more...

People are appalled that the Texas governor gave Taiwan's president a clock

Timepieces may be a good idea for a gift in most parts, but not in Chinese custom.

Netizens are outraged that Taiwanese president Tsai Ing-wen received a clock on Sunday during her stopover in Houston. She was presented with a clock emblazoned with the Texas state seal, by Texas governor Greg Abbott.

To the Chinese, giving a clock to someone is considered a huge no-no, as the words for "give a clock" (送鐘) sound like the ones for "attending someone's funeral." (送终)

Timepieces are also considered symbols of time running out for the other party, and a suggestion of an end of a relationship. Read more...

'Gravity Rush 2' gets the basics right, but little else

Gravity Rush 2 is a sequel that tries to do too much.

How did this happen after the original's promising start? The 2012 PlayStation Vita game seemed like a natural fit for a PlayStation 4 sequel. A console release could make the gravity-shifting exploration and combat even more exciting. Right?

It does do that much, at least. Flinging yourself through the open spaces of Gravity Rush 2's network of floating islands and airships is a heady pleasure that really has no equal in gaming.

Can we please stop branding compassion as 'liberal elitism?'

Meryl Streep's speech at the Golden Globes on Sunday was an arresting, heartbreaking testimony and a historic call-to-arms — for some.

On stage, Streep mourned the most "stunning" performance of the year, when Trump imitated and mocked a reporter with disabilities. She then used that violent memory to enjoin Hollywood to tell more empathetic stories and protect the storytellers who produce them. Immediately, right-wing commentators on Twitter slammed the actress' speech as "liberal elitism," a way to push down "real Americans" from the heartland.

For Streep, and millions of liberals like her, it was a familiar moment: their empathy and calls for compassion reflexively dismissed as coastal privilege.  Read more...

Using the new apps, users can test internet speeds directly from their menu bars without having to open a browser. These lightweight apps have a speedometer logo in the menu bar that performs a complete speed test with one click and notifies you when it's done.

1.5 million gaming profiles leaked after site refuses hacker's $100,000 ransom

A hacker threatened to release user data from an esports community site unless they paid $100,000, but the league behind the site decided it doesn't negotiate with hackers.

It took 12 days after the initial threat on Dec. 27 came in, but the hacker finally leaked more than 1.5 million users' records from the competitive gaming community, ESEA. (ESEA also works to offer reliable servers with extra cheat-prevention security for Counter-Strike and Team Fortress 2 players for a monthly fee.) According to ESEA, the leak includes the usual suspects from these kind of data leaks—some players' usernames, email addresses, hashed passwords, hashed security question answers, and forum posts—but other, potentially more worrying data like private messages, IP addresses and phone numbers were leaked, too.  Read more...

The Walking Dead guide to startup survival

[Editor's note: Spoilers for The Walking dead throughout.]

It’s bleak and we both know it — the kind of soul-crushing downer that goes way beyond “horror” and into something more existential and emotionally haunting.

The twists are exciting, sure, but it’s not so much the unexpected that scares us; it’s the stuff we saw coming… or (in retrospect) the stuff we should have seen coming. There’s happiness from time to time — bright triumphs of human spirit and social ingenuity — but if we’re honest, those moments, just like everything else, are short lived.

According to the Startup Genome Report, the survival rate for startups is a mere 10%. Put more starkly: 90% of all startups die within their first three years. (Oh, did you think we were talking about something else?)  Read more...

May's Life Model Decoy will wreak havoc on 'Agents of SHIELD'

Marvel's Agents of SHIELD returns from its winter break on Jan. 10, and after a fiery batch of fall episodes courtesy of Ghost Rider (Gabriel Luna), the next story arc is taking an altogether more chilling turn. Starting with episode 409, the focus shifts to Life Model Decoys — lifelike androids that are designed to be indistinguishable from humans, like Aida (Mallory Jansen).

Unbeknownst to our heroes, they already have another LMD in their midst, after the midseason finale revealed that Agent May (Ming-Na Wen) had been captured and replaced with an LMD duplicate by Aida.

Since we still have no idea why Aida made the switcheroo, the implications are pretty worrying — but they're even more disconcerting in light of the final moments of episode 408, which saw the LMD version of May sharing an intimate drink with Coulson (Clark Gregg). Read more...

'The Daily Show’s Trevor Noah calls Meryl Streep's speech 'tone-deaf'

Social media and celebrities alike had a lot to say about the way Meryl Streep took Donald Trump to task at the Golden Globes.

But one of the most surprising reactions came from The Daily Show’s Trevor Noah, who called Streep's speech "tone-deaf" last night.

"I understand what Meryl Streep was trying to do, and I don't know if I could've done better in that moment, but here’s the thing I feel like we could all learn as people," Noah said about Streep's jab at football. Fitbit just gobbled up another smartwatch company

Fitbit is starting off the new year just like it ended the old one: buying out its competition. The fitness tracking giant just made a deal that will add another company's portfolio to its growing stable of smartwatch assets.

Vector Watch, the Romanian smartwatch maker known for slick-looking devices with month-long battery lives, on Tuesday announced its purchase by Fitbit in a deal that sounds similar to the agreement that brought Pebble into the fold. Like the Pebble purchase, the terms of the deal weren't disclosed to the public.

Cat loses its mind when owner tries to bring a cat statue in the house

Home decoration has never looked so much like betrayal.

After purchasing a porcelain cat statue (as one does), cat owner David Dominguez tried introducing it into his home, where another, live cat lived.

Unfortunately, the new décor unleashed a monster in his own feline who decidedly was not a fan of the addition. We hope the living and the porcelain cats can find common ground and learn to live in peace.

Humans will drive polar bears to extinction without climate action, feds say

Polar bears will disappear from the Arctic if the U.S. and other nations don't drastically reduce their greenhouse gas emissions soon, U.S. wildlife officials warned this week.

The bears' sea-ice habitat is steadily shrinking due to human-driven global warming. That makes curbing emissions the "single most important action" to protect the species, the Fish and Wildlife Service (FWS) said in a new report.

"Make no mistake; without decisive action to address Arctic warming, the long-term fate of this species is uncertain," Greg Siekaniec, the FWS's Alaska regional director, said Monday in a news release. Read more...

Julian Assange ducks the tough questions in video Reddit AMA

Julian Assange talked for a long time in a video Reddit AMA on Tuesday, but he didn't have too much to say on the big questions.

WikiLeaks' proposed database of everyone verified on Twitter? A "false story."

Criticism from the press or politicians? "Ad-hominem attacks."

And Russia? On the receiving end of "critical" WikiLeaks' document dumps, just like the United States.

The WikiLeaks founder, who has been living in political asylum in the Ecuadorian embassy in London since 2012, answered questions via live video on Reddit. The AMA didn't go in  depth on allegations that WikiLeaks released documents obtained by the Russian government's alleged hack of the Democratic National Committee in the United States. Assange didn't talk much about President-elect Donald Trump or his ties to Russia, either.  Read more...

There's a good reason why this well-dressed sheep is riding around in a car

LONDON — It's not every day you spot a well-dressed sheep casually cruising around London in the back of a car.

For journalist Tara Conlan, though, Sunday was clearly not a typical day.

So many questions.

Aside from the fact sheep don't often ride around in cars, there was the conundrum of its fashionable attire.

@taraconlan it's in its Sunday best too - a well dressed Ewe!

Apple says a bug messed up Consumer Reports' MacBook Pro battery tests

Consumer Reports sparked controversy late last month when it put out a report saying it couldn't recommend Apple's new MacBook Pros on account of inconsistent battery life.

Naturally, Apple sprang into defense mode with Phil Schiller, the company's senior vice president of worldwide marketing, taking issue with the non-profit organization's testing methods. Schiller said Apple would work with Consumer Reports to understand their battery tests.

Well, it looks like Apple's figured out why Consumer Reports' MacBook Pro battery tests didn't match its own.

Everyone on 'Scandal' swears Season 6 is not about Trump

'Monopoly' fans are voting to change the game's iconic tokens

The apocalypse has arrived for Monopoly tokens.

Hasbro's public voting is officially open for Monopoly Token Madness. The votes will determine the classic board game's new lineup of player figurines, with winners to be announced on March 19, also known as World Monopoly Day.

The lineup of tokens has shifted multiple times since Monopoly launched in 1935. The most recent change, in 2013, replaced the original's clothing iron with a user-voted cat figurine.

This new vote differs because none of the existing tokens are safe anymore. There are 64 up for the vote, including the eight pieces — cat, dog, thimble, shoe, wheelbarrow, race car, battleship, and top hat — packed in with current versions of the game. Read more...

Mark your 2022 calendars to watch a star explosion

In five years, people looking up at the night sky might see something very special.

If one prediction is correct, in 2022 (give or take a year), two stars merging and exploding 1,800 light-years from Earth will become an incredibly bright light in the constellation Cygnus, rivaling the brightness of some of the most luminous stars in the sky.

"It’s a one-in-a-million chance that you can predict an explosion," astronomer Larry Molnar, one of the scientists behind the prediction, said in a statement

Rick and his group will be 'tested' like never before on 'The Walking Dead'

We still have a little over a month of waiting until The Walking Dead returns for the second half of Season 7. But AMC has taken pity on us and released an intriguing new synopsis for the next batch of episodes in which Rick (Andrew Lincoln) and his group prepare to take the fight to Negan (Jeffrey Dean Morgan) and his Saviors.

Here's what AMC has to say about the show's new direction:

Spencer was already undermining Rick's leadership in the first half of the season. Negan repaid that treachery by literally spilling Spencer's guts all over the street, but the summary certainly makes it seem like someone else's trustworthiness may be in doubt as we head toward the finale.  Read more...

Introducing the Dystopia Project: Tales to help you through the Dark Times

Less than two weeks before Donald Trump's inauguration, many of us are still having a hard time understanding the story of what just happened to America. It is, after all, a supremely improbable tale.

A reality-TV personality with no political experience and a string of bankruptcies on his resume built, in the space of a year, a racist cult represented by a frog? I can buy that. Almost.

But the notion that this same cult leader was elected president with the help of Russian hackers, rogue FBI agents and an online army of bots and fake-news writers? There was a time this outlandish plot might have been considered a poor mashup of Hunter S. Thompson and George R.R. Martin, and laughed off the shelves at your local Barnes & Noble.  Read more...

Will Apple deliver AR glasses in 2017?

Apple will do something with Augmented Reality.

That’s not rumor or innuendo. Apple CEO Tim Cook repeatedly expressed his strong interest in the technology over the more isolating virtual reality over the last 12 months. Apple  acquired an AR company over a year ago. And 2017 promises to be a very big year for the iPhone. Why wouldn’t Apple bring its own brand of mixed reality to its flagship product?

That all makes sense.

Robert Scoble’s report does not.

Scoble is a tech industry expert and veteran who knows everyone and, as of late, has been nestled deep in the world of virtual reality. Like me, he was at CES in early January looking for new and inspiring technologies. When you walk the floor, go to parties and rub elbows with old contacts, you hear thingsScoble heard something a few days ago. Read more...

Pro tip: Don't fly a drone into your wife's hair

Getting your hair caught in anything can hurt, but getting your hair caught in the moving propellers of a drone must be the worst.

Sheena, the woman in this video, told Mashable that the drone ended up in her hair after her husband, Matthew, decided to land it on her back. Next thing she knew, the drone flew up, got caught in her hair and Matthew began filming the whole debacle. Then, their innocent young daughter got hold of the remote, fiddled with the controls and got Sheena's hair further caught into the device.

Luckily, Sheena only had to cut out a small piece of knotted hair, while her husband was cut on the hand by the flying hair deathtrap. She warns that these things could seriously hurt someone. Read more...
