Here's why fans hate Fox broadcaster Joe Buck so much

With the football world's eyes on Arlington, Texas this weekend for a premier NFL playoff matchup between Green Bay and Dallas, much of the pre-game conversation is on the man set to announce it — Joe Buck, who remains one of the most hated sports broadcasters on television.

Fans loathe the Fox play-by-play man so much, in fact, that they created a petition to ban Buck and on-air partner Troy Aikman from announcing Green Bay Packers games.

"This is a petition to get Joe Buck and Troy Aikman banned from announcing/commentating on the Green Bay Packers," the petition reads. "On behalf of the Green Bay Packers fans across the world, we would like action taken to prohibit them from giving their constant negative input about our team. We are sick of the biased announcing always coming from them." Read more...

Dancer busts gravity-defying moves in Apple's first AirPods ad

Whether you're walking up walls or dancing in reverse gravity, Apple's wireless AirPods won't slip out of your ears.

At least that seems to be the message of the company's first TV ad for the devices set to replace earbuds.

In it, the Cupertino tech giant enlisted freestyle dancer Lil' Buck to take a gravity-defying stroll through the streets of Mexico City to the tune of pop duo Marian Hill's "Down."

In stylized black and white, Buck dances sideways along car doors, up the sides of buildings and upside down beneath the glowing lights of a theater marquee — all without missing a beat. Read more...

New Obama/Biden memes are here to help you survive inauguration week

You can take Barack and Joe out of the White House, but you can never take Barack and Joe out of the memes.

Over the past eight years, President Obama and VP Biden have formed a lasting bromance, and with every great bromance comes some beautifully creative memes.

Having been inspired by the first round of beloved "Biden plotting against Trump" memes, the fine folks on the internet are back at it again, and have decided to transform the touching moment when Obama presented Biden with the Presidential Medal of Freedom into a joke sesh.

Yes, Jude Law knows about your 'Young Pope' memes

Good news, meme-makers, The Young Pope's Jude Law is well aware of the exquisite internet mockery surrounding his new HBO drama.

In fact, much like a benevolent pontiff might offer benediction for your sins, Law has blessed our creative exploits.

"Having spent the last week in New York and here doing lots of press, I’ve become very aware," Law told reporters at HBO's presentation at the Television Critics Association winter press tour in Los Angeles when asked for his take on the show's online popularity.

While he admits that earlier in the week, "I didn't even know what a meme was," Law has come to embrace the Twitter fervor that his new role has prompted. "I love them. They’re very funny, they’re very imaginative," he said. Read more...

Mark Hamill turns Trump's Meryl Streep tweets into a psychotic Joker monologue

Well, Donald Trump's tweets sound completely fitting as monologues from the Joker, so... that's not comforting.

Mark Hamill, the voice of the Joker in several different Batman projects, has lately been reading the president-elect's tweets as the murdering clown antagonist of Batman. On Jan. 14, he tackled Trump's post Golden Globes tweets to Meryl Streep.

Listen to Hamill's recording for yourself and gaze at a wall in abject horror over how normal it sounds coming from the character who routinely poisons Gotham's water supply. Read more...

Zoe Saldana feels Hollywood has bullied Donald Trump

Donald Trump has made countless racist, misogynistic and downright reprehensible remarks throughout the course of his life, but perhaps Donald Trump is the one who has truly been bullied.

This appears to be the mindset of Guardians of the Galaxy and Avatar star Zoe Saldana, who, though not personally a supporter of the Republican president-elect, feels his victory is due to "bullies" who insulted him during his campaign.

In an interview with AFP on Saturday, Saldana, speaking on self-appointed behalf of the acting community, explained, "We got cocky and became arrogant and we also became bullies." Read more...

Democrats vow to skip inauguration on Twitter after latest Trump attack

Donald Trump's inauguration may be sparsely attended. Not only has the president-elect struggled to find a single (genuine) celebrity to perform, but also a growing number of Democratic congresspeople are declaring they will not show up at his swearing in on Jan. 20.

Following Trump's harsh words on Saturday about Representative John Lewis of Georgia, Democrats from across the country are taking the symbolic step of refusing to attend.

The president-elect accused the civil rights icon of being "all talk and no action or results" after Lewis criticized Trump on NBC and said he would be skipping the inauguration. Read more...

Samantha Bee on media responsibility in Trump's America: 'They're coming for all of us'

Samantha Bee thought she'd be telling very different stories on Full Frontal after Nov. 8.

The Daily Show alumna's TBS show has become synonymous with scathing, satirical takedowns of the political system, but she admits that she and her team were preparing for a different world back when it seemed Hillary Clinton had the presidency in the bag.

"One of the things we thought would happen had the election gone the way that we all supposed that it would, was that we thought we’d be able to do a greater variety of stories that were not election-related, which was exciting to us," Bee told reporters during a panel at the Television Critics Association winter press tour in Los Angeles on Saturday.  Read more...

Makeup blogger's dad has the perfect response to bigot's tweet

Manny Gutierrez is a makeup YouTuber with millions of subscribers and a Maybelline ambassadorship. He also has a dad who does not seem to take haters lightly.

In early January, the conservative blogger Matt Walsh, who often shares anti-LGBTQ messages on Twitter, posted a picture of Gutierrez wearing makeup, writing "Dads, this is why you need to be there to raise your sons."

Gutierrez did not have time for Walsh, responding that his dad, quite simply, is proud of who he is. "Being a man isn't about how 'tough' or 'masculine' you are," he tweeted Saturday. "It's about taking care of the ones you love." Read more...

'SNL' asks Trump about 'big Russian pee-pee parties' in first cold open of 2017

As if they needed a setup beyond the "failing pile of garbage" that’s been the last few weeks of current events, Saturday Night Live took on President-elect Donald Trump’s controversial press conference last week — and unsubstantiated reports of his "big Russian pee-pee party" — for its first cold open of the new year.

And just like that much-maligned newser, the sketch did not disappoint.

Alec Baldwin braved the inevitable oncoming Trump Twitter tirade to reprise his role as the president-in-waiting, touting Trump’s star-studded inauguration lineup, including "Jackie what’s-her-face" from America’s Got Talent and — hold onto your tits and bits — THREE. DOORS. DOWN.  Read more...

PSA: Here's a video of Donald Trump playing an accordion. That is all.

Sometimes it's really hard to understand what Donald Trump is getting at, you know? Add an accordion though, and all those big league hand gestures just make a lot more sense.

Russian hacks and Mexican walls all sound a tad more relaxing (but still horrible) when accompanied by the dulcet tones of a squeezebox.

The ABC's Huw Parkinson put this one together, and really, we can't thank him enough.

A breathtaking 1915 photo tour of the mountains of the Holy Land

The reputed location of Abraham's offering of Isaac on Mount Gerizim.

IMage: Oregon State University Visual Instruction Department

Mountains around the world often have deep spiritual significance to the cultures that emerge in their shadows, and the peaks of the Holy Land are no exception.

Lebanon, Syria, Israel, Palestine and Jordan are dominated by summits of Biblical import, from the cedar-covered slopes of Mount Lebanon, to the precipitous cliffs of Mount Arbel, to Mount Tabor, believed by many Christians to be the location of the Transfiguration of Jesus.

These lantern slides from the Oregon State University Visual Instruction Department offer a tour of the peaks and vistas of the Holy Land in the last days of Ottoman rule. Read more...

The Ringling Bros. circus is shutting down after 146 years

A circus without elephants might be more humane, but apparently it's far less enticing.

The owners of Ringling Bros. and Barnum & Bailey Circus said they will permanently end their 146-year-old show this spring. "The Greatest Show on Earth" saw a steep decline in ticket sales after removing elephants from performances in May 2016.

"After much evaluation and deliberation, my family and I have made the difficult business decision that Ringling Bros. and Barnum & Bailey will hold its final performances in May of this year," Kenneth Feld, chairman and CEO of Feld Entertainment, said in a Jan. 13 statementRead more...

Hologram Tina Fey stopped by Saturday Night Live to give Felicity Jones some tips on hosting the show ("If Steven Seagal can do it, so can you") and tell her to disregard whatever tweet storm from the president-elect that follows.

But more importantly, Fey pleaded with Jones to relay the message that she is "technically available to act in films" to J.J. Abrams.

Why being a 'weekend warrior' is still good for your health

If going to the gym during the workweek sounds daunting to you, fear not: Working out only on the weekends has health benefits too, a new study suggests.

In the study, researchers examined so-called weekend warriors, who cram a week's worth of exercise into just one or two days.

The researchers found that the weekend warriors in the study who met physical activity guidelines were less likely to die during the nine-year study period, compared with people who didn't get any exercise. Meeting those guidelines meant engaging in a total of at least 150 minutes of moderate-intensity activity or 75 minutes of vigorous activity over one or two days a week. Read more...

'Deadshot Mary': The undercover cop who became a tabloid sensation

Image: Library of Congress

Mary Shanley was born in Ireland in 1896, and after immigrating to America with her family, made the bold choice to join the NYPD.

Along with a handful of other woman cops, she went to work on undercover beats

In her first year on the force, she was assigned to nab fortune-tellers and psychics. These professions were illegal at the time, as it was believed they preyed on vulnerable women (and were practiced mostly by immigrants).

She was later assigned to an anti-pickpocket beat, cruising around department stores dressed as a typical shopper, sometimes accompanied by her niece as a decoy. Read more...

Thanks to Trump, Rep. John Lewis is dominating Amazon's bestsellers list

Well, something good actually happened because of Donald Trump's tweets, but don't get used to it.

Following a couple early morning tweets dismissing Rep. John Lewis, March, the Georgia congressman's graphic novel memoir, leaped to the top of Amazon's bestsellers list.

Presumably after Trump heard Lewis' assertion that he's not a "legitimate president," the president-elect, of course, dissed him on Twitter.

Congressman John Lewis should spend more time on fixing and helping his district, which is in horrible shape and falling apart (not to......
